Types of Buttocks Augmentation
Your surgeon will help you determine whether buttocks augmentation with silicone implants or with fat grafting is appropriate. (Click here to inquire about Buttocks Augmentation through Fat Grafting).
In the case of implants, your surgeon will help you decide which size, shape, and texture of implant is right for you. Buttocks implants are medical devices with a solid silicone shell filled with cohesive silicone gel. You should be aware that implants are not guaranteed to last a lifetime and future surgery may be required to replace the implants.

The Surgical Procedure
The method of inserting and positioning the implants may vary depending on your anatomy and your surgeon's recommendation. The most common procedure involves incisions made at the cliff of the buttocks. Working through the incision, the surgeon will lift the tissue and skin to create a pocket to hold the implant. Once the implant is positioned within this pocket, the incisions are closed with sutures. A gauze bandage may be applied to help with healing.
*Anesthesia:
local anaesthesia, combined with a sedative or general anaesthesia according to the case

Post-op Recovery and Time Back to Work
Post - Op Recovery You will have to sleep on your belly until the stitches are removed. You will feel some discomfort for a few days after surgery. However, discomfort can be controlled with medications prescribed by your surgeon. You'll be swollen and bruised for awhile. To help reduce swelling, you'll probably be instructed to wear an elastic pressure garment continuously for a week or two, and for a few weeks longer at night. Although the worst of your swelling will dissipate in the first few weeks, it may be three months or more before the final results of your surgery are apparent.
Time Back to Work Healing is a gradual process. After 15 days, you will be able to sit again and to return to your job, but if it requires that you spend a long time sitting down or that you do intense physical activities, you should wait a bit longer. You will have to wait approximately 30 days before doing any hard work and physical exercise, depending on how well you recover.

Uncertainty and Risk
It is very unlikely for buttocks augmentation surgery to present any complications when performed by a qualified surgeon. However, there are always risks associated with surgery and there are specific complications associated with this procedure. Post-operative complications such as infection and blood clots are rare, but can occur. Infection can be treated with drainage and antibiotics, but will prolong your hospital stay. You can minimize the risk of blood clots by moving around as soon after the surgery as possible. This happens very rarely and it is more likely to happen after microfat grafting than when implants are used. Large bruises may require drainage. Should seromas, or fluid accumulation beneath the skin, occur, drainage with a syringe may be necessary. Temporary loss of pigmentation of the skin in the areas treated may occur. The implants may puncture or rupture due to an excessive pressure or violent blow. Although the cohesive gel of the implants does not spread, a ruptured implant will have to be replaced. Even though the surgeon marks very carefully the areas he is going to treat, there may be asymmetries. Adverse reactions to anesthesia are possible in any surgery.
After microfat grafting, there may be an excessive loss of fluids associated with liposuction that may result in a decompensation. A certain amount of the grafted fat may be reabsorbed by the body if the blood supply is not adequate. This is a natural process that may last some months. It does not present any risks or discomfort, but it results in a loss of the volume obtained.
Smokers should be advised to stop, as smoking may increase the risk of complications and delay healing. You can reduce your risk of complications by closely following your surgeon's instructions before and after the surgery, especially with regard to when and how you should resume physical activity.
